# Kalmadu Granite Site
## Overview
Carbonatik is excited to announce the exploration of a promising granite deposit in the Kalmadu area of Sri Lanka. This 100-acre site, located 7km from Vavuniya town, shows significant potential for high-quality pink granite extraction.
## Terrain
- Reserved forest and patta land within the Wanni complex
## Geological Highlights
- Primary rock type: Granitic Gneiss with Pink Granite
- Structure: East to West strike with a nearly vertical dip towards South
## Deposit Characteristics
Our initial field observations reveal:
1. A layer of red topsoil (0-2 meters)
2. Weathered rock and exposed pink granite (below 2 meters)
3. Surface exposure thickness: Approximately 15 to 30 meters
4. Potential for massive deposit in the subsurface
5. Known depth: Exceeding 30 meters (based on well observations)
## Granite Quality
Preliminary assessments indicate high-quality pink granite, which is well-formed in this site. The distinct pink color of this granite suggests strong market potential, particularly for ornamental and construction applications.
## Current Activity
While there is no current mining activity, the exposed granite on the surface and observations from local wells indicate significant potential for commercial extraction.
## Next Steps
To fully evaluate the economic viability of this site, Carbonatik plans to:
1. Conduct detailed geological mapping across the entire 100-acre area
2. Perform comprehensive geophysical surveys
3. Implement a strategic drilling program
These steps will help us determine the full extent of the granite deposit and its potential for large-scale commercial development.
## Potential
Based on our initial observations and the area's geological conditions, we believe there's a strong possibility that approximately half of the forest area contains significant granite deposits. Our exploration efforts will focus on establishing the continuation of the granite deposit towards the East or West.
Carbonatik is committed to responsible exploration and development, especially given the site's location in a reserved forest and patta land area. We will work closely with local authorities, communities, and environmental experts to ensure our activities are conducted in an environmentally sensitive manner.
The unique pink color of the granite at this site presents an exciting opportunity for Carbonatik to enter specialty markets in the construction and ornamental stone industries.
Stay tuned for updates as we uncover the full potential of the Kalmadu Granite Site and develop our expertise in granite extraction and processing.
